Perched on the southern seaboard of Shandong Peninsula, Qingdao is well-known to the West by its postal map spelling Tsingtao. Zhanqiao pier was originally constructed in 1891, and stretches 440 meters into the sea. Initailly, the pier was built by the Commander Deng Zhou for purely naval purposes, but now it is a popular tourist destination. It is also the image that is used on the label of Tsingtao beer bottles and cans, so that's why you might recognize it. Make sure you get plenty of photos of this iconic sight.
The park itself is not very high, a green hill with 2.1 hectares of green belt. Trees and flowers are everywhere. They make Little Fish Hill Park a perfect combination of natural beauty and architectural beauty. Standing on the top of the hill, you can oversee Zhanqiao Pier Park, Little Qingdao Isle, Luxun Park, the Bathing Beach, Badaguan, and Qingdao’s other tourist attractions clearly. This makes for a great photo opportunity.
The Former German Governor’s House is situated in the center of Qingdao’s historical area. Designed by Werner Lazarowicz, a German architect, construction on this was started in July 1905 and the house opened in 1907. During the period of German occupation, the building served as the residence of Kiautschou Governor. In 1934, it was renamed the “Guest House”, and became the most famous reception hotel in Qingdao. In 1957, Chairman Mao stayed in this building when he visited Qingdao, and in 1999, it was finally opened as a museum.
It is a world–class museum, and the only beer museum in China. It was founded in 1903 and it covers an area of more than 6,000 square meters, including three tourist areas including century–old history and culture, a beer production line and a multifunctional entertainment area.
The Eight Great Passes was built in 1930s. Here, eight streets were built, all named after the important military passes in China, so that the area is called the Eight Great Passes. With well-preserved old streets and European villas, the romantic bays and beaches have a distinctly continental European feel.
Located in the Qingdao Fushan Bay in the new eastern zone, the 29th Olympic Games and 13th Paralympic Games sailing competitions were held here in 2008, afterwards the center has hosted many notable international sailing races such as the Volvo Ocean Race, the Clipper World Race and the ISAF Sailing World Cup.
