Laoshan Mountain’s nickname is the “No.1 Mountain on the Sea” because of its located on the coast of the Yellow Sea, peaking at 1,133 meters above sea level. This one-day tour will take you to hike the waterfall, and enjoy the scenery.
First we will drive to Laoshan, approximately 30 kilometers east of the city center. There, we will take a local shuttle bus up to Bashuihe Stop, and from there we will start our pleasant hike up to Longtan Waterfall.
Located in the middle section of the southern foot of Mount Lao, the Longtan Waterfall consists of numerous streams which converge to a riffle, lowing down from a 30-meter-high cliff terrace. With a height of 30 meters and a width of 5 meters, the cascading waterfall resembles a strong and vigorous dragon, hence its name 'the Dragon Pool'. The platform underneath the waterfall provides a majestic view of the spurting water and the beautiful scenery of the surrounding peaks.
On the mountain, which is more than 2,000 years old. Taiqing Temple leans against seven peaks, its construction started during the first year of the Western Han Dynasty (140 BC). It is the largest among all temples and nunneries in Laoshan Mountain. Taking up an area of 4,442 square meters, Taiqing Temple has more than 150 rooms in total. Sanguan Temple, Sanqing Temple and Sanhuang Temple, which are also part of the complex, have their own gates and walls.
